In week 1 of my Core Word Programme, we are learning “I want” - a fundamental phrase allowing for autonomy and expression. In this session, your learners will explore “I want” through a variety of activities. Read on to see what we cover, and how I am using the programme in my classrooms.
Each session includes:
Interactive games to make learning fun
TV clips that demonstrate the core words in conversation
Makaton sign language links which help to reinforce non-verbal understanding of the core words
Sensory story suggestions
The book I have chosen for my classroom is Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell, an interactive classic that I have found to be a hit with the children in my care.
In this session we also take a look at useful phrases such as “I do not want”, “I want that” and more, empowering your learners with accessible and effective tools for communication.
