Ask Me Anything - Sensory Circuit Suggestions

Ask Me Anything - Sensory Circuit Suggestions

Welcome to my "Ask Me Anything" blog post series!

I answer lots of questions on my social media channels, and it makes sense to share this information (anonymously!) in case it is useful for others, too.

"Hi, I have some questions about sensory circuits, please. Do you complete them with your class? Can I ask how that looks as a whole-class session?"

I put a 30-minute timer on the board (YouTube). All children and the team know that means they have 30 minutes for circuit time and to get to the group area for the register. The staff encourage the children to get out of breath, they naturally separate off into groups to meet various interests and needs. The kids naturally want to join as it's fun and meets their needs.

Then they transition into organising, it might be picking up and putting away or a balancing obstacle course. Then, with 5 minutes to go, they bring them in, and we do deep squeezes and weighted blankets.

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, let me know.

*I am not a doctor or medical professional, so for some questions, you might want to contact your GP, the National Autistic Society, or the NHS.
