Ask Me Anything - Parent Communication

Welcome to my "Ask Me Anything" blog post series!

I answer lots of questions on my social media channels, and it makes sense to share this information (anonymously!) in case it is useful for others too.

"Hi, Jordan. I am wondering what information you send out to parents each week/half term?"

Every day, we send home a home/school book that details eating, toilet, general mood, activities they took part in and something that went well. The TAs fill this out during the day. Also, a great opportunity to request snacks, reminders for trips, etc.

I can also call or email for anything more serious or confidential.

At the start of each term, I send home a timetable and a list of topics and lesson coverage we hope to achieve. I also send home their IEP targets.

We’ve started to assess using iPads (a bit like tapestry but for SEN), and parents are enjoying seeing photos a few times a week this way too.

In the “Classroom set up” folder in my Google Drive, I have a template to print for quickly filling in daily info, which could be useful.

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, let me know.

*I am not a doctor or medical professional, so for some questions, you might want to contact your GP, the National Autistic Society, or the NHS.
