Ask Me Anything - How Long For A Break?

Ask Me Anything - How Long For A Break?

Welcome to my "Ask Me Anything" blog post series!

I answer lots of questions on my social media channels, and it makes sense to share this information (anonymously!) in case it is useful for others, too.

"How long would you suggest a break to be? I'm finding that my child will keep extending and avoid all work."

A break needs to allow the movement/ sensory they need leading onto a more grounding and “ready for work” focusing mode. I use a three step sensory circuit. Also, if the learning is linked to their interests and meeting their sensory needs, then this will no longer be an issue. We need to teach how they learn best :) You might find my Sensory Diet download helpful.

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, let me know.

*I am not a doctor or medical professional, so for some questions, you might want to contact your GP, the National Autistic Society, or the NHS.
