I answer lots of questions on my social media channels privately, so it makes sense to share this information (anonymously!) in case it is useful for others too.
The answers below are all linked to the topic of Gestalt Language Processors.
"Why is repetition so beneficial for learners with complex needs?"
Great question! Often, with global or other cognitive delays, short-term working memory struggles to retain new information. Repetition helps consolidate that learning into long-term memory. Also for anxiety linked profiles (ASD, ADHD, OCD, etc) it reduces anxiety as it becomes predictable, they are then able to focus and learn.
"Why is repetition so important for Gestalt Language Processors?
Another great one! Similar to my previous answer, but also it becomes familiar and with that comes understanding of meaning. It's also stimulating and a dopamine hit or “stimming”, a typical ASD behaviour.
Hope this helps! I have another blog post all about GLP stages if that’s useful. Access here.
